The COLE schools began in 1989 when Rosie Ladner-Cole opened ‘COLE English Playgroups’ in her Innsbruck home. Originally aimed at Austrian children aged 3 to 6 it soon attracted children from all over the world whose families were living near and around the vicinity. Afternoon English courses for children aged 6 to 10 were soon introduced and ‘COLE English Playgroups’ became ‘COLE English Centre for Kids’.
Over the years the centre grew, and with it the building.
‘My aim has always been to channel children’s natural curiosity into a positive learning experience – to encourage academic learning in all subjects as well as promote tolerance, empathy, morality and good manners.’
After many successful years it was eventually decided that a private bi-lingual (English/German) primary school for 6 to 10 year olds would be the perfect extension of the growing pre-school. So, in 2011, the non-profit society ‘COLE Privatschule – Private School e.V.’, founded together with interested parents, was born. The private primary school opened its doors in September 2013 and by autumn 2014 a separate, temporary building was added to the grounds to accommodate incoming students.
In January 2015 pre-school and primary school became ‘COLE International Schools’.
‘We are looking forward to not only having a long history, but also to making history in the private educational sector in Austria with these innovative, international, academic, bi-lingual schools.’
